Help from your local pharmacy
Your local pharmacist can give you confidential, expert advice and treatment for a range of common illnesses and conditions such as colds, sore throats, bad stomachs, allergies and aches and pains.
You don’t need to see a GP about coughs, colds, aches and pains. Just visit your local pharmacy – there’s no need to make an appointment.
All pharmacists are part of the NHS, they train for a minimum of five years and are experts in medicines use and providing health and wellbeing advice.
In some cases, a pharmacist will also be able to carry out medication reviews for medicine you take.
There are also pharmacists working within our practice who can offer appointments for certain illnesses or injuries.
If your symptoms suggest something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. Your pharmacist can also help you decide if you need to see a doctor or nurse.
Pharmacies are often open until late and at weekends, and many have a quiet area where you can talk to a pharmacist in private.
